not cinderellas type 2018
In this post from the site we are going to introduce the film not like Sandlerla.
Indy Zimmerman’s life is far from perfect. With a step mom who seems to make it her goal in life to make indy’s life horrible, step sister’s who want nothing to do with her, and a boy who ruined her life suddenly wanting to be a part of it, life is already more than difficult. throw high school, relationships and tragity in the mix and things couldn’t be worse. When the most popular boy at school, Bryant Bailey, kills her cat, Indy wants nothing to to with him, but he seems set on being a part of her life, and after all attempts of getting rid of him fail, she decides to give him a chance. He might not be her type but Indy quickly learns first impressions can be wrong.
I saw this on Amazon prime, and Cinderella retellings are my guilty pleasure. I don’t think there has been one I didn’t at least enjoy. “Not Cinderella’s Type” screamed my name, and I immediately placed it on my watch next list.
At first, the movie was a bit cringe-y. The acting wasn’t great, and the casting didn’t seem to fit. Plus, some of the dialogue was beyond awkward. Yet, as the story progressed, it got more and more into cute YA territory which I adore. In addition, my favorite shoe brand is Converse which Indy rocks all the time. Plus, plaid/checker button ups are a staple in my wardrobe, so it was cool seeing multiple characters wearing them. These little things always help me feel like I can relate to the characters. Moving along, the editing/directing bugged me at times because stuff would be happening in the background which didn’t make any sense and made scene cuts look choppy. Also, the plot progressed really quickly – an example being Indy’s outburst. Anyways, I liked the way Maxton bowed out; it was kind of him and a real man of him to remain friends with Indy because she definitely needs the support from the people around her. Speaking of people around Indy, I wish we got to see more of Bryant’s sisters. Lastly, this is a random thing I noticed, but this school, this movie, is very white…
Overall, “Not Cinderella’s Type” was decent and definitely picked up after the initial adjustment period. I wouldn’t highly recommend it, but it’s an alright film to have playing in the background. I feel that people know what they are getting walking into with a film like this, and if like me, you enjoy these teen love stories, then go for it. 3/5
Lastly, I know that this movie is based off a book, but I will probably never read it. However, if you’ve read the book or seen the movie, tell me your thoughts about it in the comment section below.
